OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER
  • Activity 2, Part 3: Students freeze water in 50-ml syringes from the Measurement kit in this investigation. There are 8 syringes in the Measurement kit. You could borrow or purchase more syringes to complete the activity as written, or set up one syringe for each class as a demonstration.
  • Activity 3, Part 2: If you are working with more than two classes, you will either need to purchase extra thermometers or borrow from another Measurement Kit to complete this investigation.
  • Activity 3, Part 3: Students use graduated cylinders and 100-ml beakers from the Measurement kit. You will need to borrow or purchase more of these items to complete the activity as written, or have groups work together with the available materials. All of the groups could use flat lids and dome lids. You can distibute either a graduated cylinder or a beaker to each group and have them later share results.
